I do want to keep things consistent and somewhat balanced, with preference for more options whenever possible. Something to sort of relax with between work. I want a clear task that I can work towards completing it. My main goal is to complete the game at a relaxed place, but not to the point that I would be in for the sake of living it. Terraria just features many cheap ways to instadie unfortunately.). I like to take my time too, aim to play in a way from beginning to end with no deaths (or atleast as less as possible, I do still play on softcore despite aiming to play like a hardcore character. Thank you a lot for the thoughtful answer, I see a lot of similarities in how you prefer to play the game as I would want to play it myself. I'm a huge fan of it personally, but keep that in mind. One final note: Overhaul is going to change how the content of any mod is played since it focuses on changing core vanilla mechanics that other mods rely on/expect. Outside of those, I quite like the combo of Calamity+Thorium+Spririt+Overhaul. I didn't see it until after I was well into my current playthrough, and prefer not to add content mods to current worlds. I avoided Tremor because I heard it was buggy and had overpowered items, and haven't tried Antiaris because. In terms of the actual mods you listed: I use everything except Tremor and Antiaris. It's far more overwhelming initially, but if you're like me you enjoy being chucked into the deep end and thrive better that way. If you have them all at once, you learn once and that's it. With one mod at a time, you're going to have a certain amount of re-learning to do to adjust each time. That means a lot of items are totally pointless since other mods have a more powerful option at the same tier, but it also means there are waaay more possibilities to make weird builds.Ī huge factor is going to be how much you want to re-learn the game each time you play. so for me it's better to mix them together. making 'the perfect modpack' to replay over and over). I prefer to take my time, have tons of options, and keep the game as samey as possible (i.e. Do you want replaying the game to be different every time, or the same?.Do you want to play how a mod developer intended (the assumption being that the intention is vanilla + 1 major content mod), or do you want to have as many options as you can and potentially make content from one mod trivial with another?.Do you want to blaze through it and just finish all the bosses, or do you want to take it slow and essentially 'live' in your world for as long as possible?.I think it's a more a matter of what you want from a playthrough.
